Ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες για τα Βρετανικά Βραβεία BAFTA, γνωστά και ως «βρετανικά Όσκαρ», με το «Poor Things» να σαρώνει στις πιο σημαντικές κατηγορίες.
Συγκεκριμένα, η ταινία του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου (που κέρδισε δύο Χρυσές Σφαίρες και έχει βάλει πλώρη για Όσκαρ) απέσπασε 11 υποψηφιότητες και οδηγεί την κούρσα μαζί με το «Oppenheimer» που έχει προταθεί για 13 βραβεία.
Ακολουθεί το «Killers of the flower moon» και το «The Zone of Interest» με 9 υποψηφιότητες και το «Maestro», το «Anatomy of a fall» και το «The Holdovers» με 7 υποψηφιότητες. Η «Barbie», το blockbaster του καλοκαιριού, έχει μόλις πέντε υποψηφιότητες, μαζί με το «Saltburn».
Αίσθηση προκάλεσε το γεγονός ότι η Λίλι Γκλάντστοουν δεν είναι υποψήφια για το βραβείο καλύτερης ηθοποιού, ενώ κατέκτησε την Χρυσή Σφαίρα στην ίδια κατηγορία.
Η 77η τελετή απονομής θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 18 Φεβρουαρίου στο Royal Festival Hall του Λονδίνου και ο Ντέιβιντ Τέναντ θα είναι ο οικοδεσπότης της βραδιάς.
